Ok FB friends, I have looked up some local events that are geared towards helping the kids of the community get needed school supplies. I have found a few different options for everyone, even if you dont need assistance you can help sponsor a child! (More on this in event 2!) Frist event is by Harmony Free Will Baptist Church 3405 Gap Creek Road, Hampton TN 37694. scheduled for Saturday July 26, 2014 from 10:00-3:00pm. Free backpacks and supplies for grades K-12. Free live entertainment, food, drinks, games, face painting, live animals, special appearances!! I have posted a link with information previously on my page. Second event is a Back to school picnic hosted by Good Samaritan Ministries - Johnson City, TN on Julu27, 2014 at the Cardinal Park 111 Legion St. JC TN 37601. **CHILDREN NEED TO BE REGISTERED!!** Volunteers and Sponsors Need for Back to School Event Good Samaritan Ministries is excitedly preparing for our annual Back to School Picnic which is scheduled for Sunday July 27, 2014 at 2:30 pm. The event will be held at Cardinal Park in Johnson City, TN. We will enjoy a great time of food and fun while also providing children, pre-registered in the back to school program, with school supplies, back packs, and clothing. We appreciate volunteers who are able to help with the picnic and we are still in need of people willing to sponsor a child for this event. The need is great this year and we can only meet the need through everyone in the community pulling together. (I will try to update this! or contact Scott Morgan @ 423-957-9181.) Free food, games, inflatables, snow cones,cotton candy, more. Free school supplies….K-12 Community groups will also attend and will be giving away free items. Will post link with information on my page. Fourth event is at A.R.M. in Elizabethton, if you are eligible, they are going to be giving vouchers $10.00 per child I believe hopefully starting the first of August when you pick up your food box for the month. I think you have to live in Carter County to receive benefits from them. I hope this helps someone and touches someone else who might be better off to help someone else!!
