Ok Friends...yesterday you may have witnessed a Police Chase which started by the High School and ended out on F.M. 787. With the combined efforts of the Sheriffs Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, Liberty County Pct 6 Constable, Liberty Co. Pct 3 Constable, Liberty County Pct 5 Constable and the Cleveland ISD Police Department this individual was stopped and after a wild foot chase and a quick swim for some....he was apprehended. No citizens, no officers were injured and the only vehicle which sustained damage was the suspects vehicle. Back story to all of this excitement is we, the Cleveland ISD Police Department had just arrested this very same individual late last week. This individual was able to either post bond or was given a PR Bond and was able to be back out on our street and roads causing more trouble. I am bringing this story up for several reasons; 1. Your Liberty County Law Enforcement Agencies have all been training together and we all work well together when and where it counts...anytime, anywhere!!! 2. The safety of our students, faculty and staff is paramount. This individual posed a significant threat to the overall safety / security operations of our High School last week and he was found to be right in front of our High School again, yesterday. We will not allow anyone to come onto or around our schools and place our students, faculty and staff in danger. 3. We, Law Enforcement, enforce the law and, at times, place people in jail. The Bond / Release situation is not within our control and we have NO bearing on this part of the legal process. At times, the old adage is true, they do get out before all the paperwork is done. 4. By land, air or sea...we get our guy, in this case, a one Mr. Denny Rex. currently a resident of the Liberty County Jail.... the other photo depicts LCSO Corporal Leal who I sincerely commend for thinking out of the box and literally rowing out to drag this individual back to shore to other waiting Law Enforcement Personnel. So, in closing...with all of the negative, hateful and terrible things being said about and to Americas Law Enforcement Community...I say, Thank you. From one simple Police Chief to every Cop and their family out there...Thank you and Thank you for you sacrifice to serve your communities and our Nation. Oh, one last thought....a HUGE sincere THANK YOU to everyone, including our School Board and Superintendent who has and continues to, strongly support us here at YOUR Cleveland ISD Police Department. Sincerely, Rex
