Ok I am going to make this point in the vain hope it gets out to the people that should be told! If you rehome your dog and do not update its chip and that dog then ends up serving 7 days in a pound at THE WORST TIME OF YEAR you should know that the dog will almost definitely die. I personally believe that the registered owner has the full responsibility to the dog and therefore the blood is on their hands. Do not ever blame the rescues that should sort the dog out or the pounds/councils that offer food warmth and shelter for 7 days. The responsibility lies with the person on the chip pure and simple. Now if the lady who was a near neighbour of mine would like to come and collect her rehomed dog Buddy the boxer, he has served his 7 days and is due to be pts d (put to sleep/euthansed/killed) this week.
