Ok, I am officially very, very angry at an unknown person who occupied my current house before I moved in. The following disposal disaster was entirely premeditated, and someone on this planet seriously needs to be shot so that they never attempt disposal installation ever again. To explain: Today I looked under my sink, which I dont do all that often, and discovered a puddle of moist brown sludge, which had apparently been there for a while. Long story short, I eventually discovered that the existing disposal has a deep housing crack, 4 inches long, from outflow tube to mount ring. just hairline, but plenty wide to let dirty water through. The part that just infuriates me is that some absolute ASSHOLE previously discovered the crack, decided that hey, Ill just silicone it shut and put it back, they wont notice right? did so, reinstalled the disposal clocked weird to hide the damage, repainted the cabinet bottom, and went on their merry way. This fix did not fail until several years after I moved in. So rather than spend the $60 to get a comparable replacement disposal, they took the time to dismount the disposal, slap some cheap repair shit on it, and then stuck it back in place to fail at a later date. Argh! I have half a mind to look up the property records of who lived here before, find them, and demand the price of a new disposal from them on pain of nose punch, but I cant prove they were the jerks that did it.
