Ok I have an Irish water question. It is my understanding that If you rent a property the tenant is liable for the charges, which is fine as this is the same for any utility bill. If the tenant does not sign up to Irish Water, the landlord is liable. Irish water have stated that if the tenants do not sign up as a customer that they will contact the owner of the property to ensure the tenant received the bill. Surely owners/landlords are not permitted to hand over their tenants information to a third party without the tenants permission.
