Ok, I have something a bit different to share with you… as an Engineering student Im always interested in all the elements of racing and Im also lucky enough to be sponsored by a great company called GTEK Infrared. In Engineering, thermal imaging is a great tool and more and more you will start to see mining / industrial companies using thermal cameras and take a proactive approach to maintenance as opposed to reactive. Anyway, today Grant Law from GTEK came out to Ipswich and captured some great shots. The first shot of me is just after I got out of the car after Race 2 - as you can see the temperature at the top left hand side of the picture tells you the hottest temp, which is 37 degrees. I compared this to my chest area which you can see is blue because of the cool suit we wear which pumps ice cold water around our core and this was 27 degrees. So a full 10 degree temp difference between my head (funnily enough my ears were the hottest part) and chest. Other images show you the max temps - brake temps are crazy!!
