Ok......I have talked with the surgeon. After her heart cath and dye test, everything I thought and feared was confirmed. Every thing going in and coming out of Moms heart is blocked. From as little as 70% to as much as 99%. The only option is open heart surgery. With her respiratory and lung problems in top of her enlarged weak heart, there is a great chance that she would not make it through the surgery. She wants to try....and I support her in that decision. Having a partial chance at a better life, is better than having a life if no quality at all. Her Dr.s are discussing whether to and when to proceed. The surgeon is going away for Christmas and wants to see this completely through. Surgery may be postponed till the 4th or 5th. Dont know yet if she will stay in hospital or temporarily return to the nursing home. I trust God....and my feelings are numb right now.
