Ok, I havent gone off on a ricer rant in a long time. It used to be my JOB to go after these pissant little ricers and their ridiculous notions of automotive performance. But alas, I gave up several years ago when it became apparent that the rest of the world finally figured out that rice ISNT nice. Fast forward to Sunday, Im working on my foxbody Mustang in the driveway. 2 guys show up in a golf cart and start asking me about the car. I briefly show them around and they start talking about how they are really in to performance, not necessarily fox bodies, but the one dude has a small block 68 Mustang that is scary fast according to his friend, and used to own a slew of Lotus Elises that his buddy was all about. The Mustang guy was very dismissive of the performance claims his buddy was making so he seemed legit. However, Mr. Rice-banger the import lover starting going off on how he used to own a VW Cabrio with a turbocharged 2.2L stroker that made 500 rear-wheel HP and weighed only 1000 lbs. He went on to say he had replaced the rear axle with a graphite unit and had swapped a lot of body panels out with carbon fiber. He said it was ridiculously fast (obviously), but not as fast as his buddys mild small-block powered 68 fastback! (i.e. not very fast) He also said he wasnt into Mustangs and would gladly build a 1000 HP Civic if he had the chance. - First of all, thats ridiculous, theres no such thing. And if there was, I dont see Mr. Golf Cart being able to spend $100,000+ on a Civic. Meanwhile, he says his new passion is off-roading and that he builds badass off road monsters now. So I ask what kind of truck he has, and he tells me a GEO TRACKER. And that he also runs a side-by-side. Ohh brother... Anybody that truly understands this rant, I appreciate your sympathy. -Brent
