Ok, I know Im going to piss some people off with my review of Into the Woods, but here it goes..... when I ask people how they are doing and they say, meh, this response usually irks me as I find it very nondescript and vague. But this is the best response I have to the film... MEH. While I admired Rob Marshalls direction of Chicago,he is way out of his element here. The script is a jumbled mess and for the most part it is sorely miscast, with the exception of Chris Pines, Johnny Depp, Jack, and Tracey Ullman. The only numbers that translated for me were Agony and Giants in the sky. The film greatly missed the sarcasm, humor and sharp timing it so desperately required and the individual stakes of the characters were not strong enough for me to care.
