Ok. I tried really hard to sweep this under the rug. But Ive been crabby all day. So here goes. Several months ago I learned that I had made the Main Line Today Top Docs listing for the sixth year in a row. I was invited to spend thousands of dollars advertising in that issue to highlight the honor. I respectfully declined. Dont get me wrong-- I look forward to being in this issue every year. Today a MLT rep kindly dropped off some advanced copies of the issue so I could get a sneak peek. They also left me an order form in case I wanted to order a commemorative plaque. Once I was done work, I sat down with a cup of coffee and flipped through the issue. I inwardly cheered for my colleagues that were named. Even my darling husband who is oblivious to such popularity contests had made the list. After scrutinizing over 400 names, my stomach dropped. My name was nowhere to be found. I made a phone call to the magazines editorial department and was told it was an error. The nice lady was really sorry this happened. The same magazine did a wonderful write up on my charity team a few weeks ago so I dont want to beat them up too badly. I found myself venting to Maisy. My 14-year-old is wise beyond her years. As I explained the story to her I got teary-eyed. I quickly wiped my eyes and told her that there was a lesson there that I should be teaching HER and that I was failing miserably. I dont exactly know why but her simple response made me feel better. Mom you DID just teach me a lesson. Once in a while its ok to sweat that small stuff--
