Ok, Im a goober. hehehehe Since Im trying to be a relaxing home-body today to counter my Olympics Gymnastics moves early this morning, I tried to light a fire in my wood burning stove. First thing I discovered is that in the giant pile of household mechanical paperwork the previous owners left, there is NOT ONE pamphlet for the wood burning stove. But hey, it should be simple, right? I know about the flue, so I moved the handle to the opposite direction that the owners left it (ASSUMEing they turned it to closed when they left). I bought some wood at the store yesterday and put a log in, in addition to the one log the previous owners left. um....ok....after 20 minutes of holding a butane lighter under my new log, NOTHING. I did manage to get some smoke, so now Im confused as to whether I actually closed or opened the flue! I let the paper die out because every time I opened the doors to check smoke billowed into the kitchen. Um....I do NOT want my smoke alarms to go off! Reminder....PTSD and loud noises are not a good combination. So, Im going to go to Home Depot in a few days because they actually sell this brand of wood burning stove. But if anyone has any hints for me, please feel to step in here. It is an Englander wood burning stove, but doesnt look like any of the glass doord versions Ive found online. The little motor on the side does work, so if I can figure out how to get this thing runnin, Im sure Ill have a lot of heat I dont have to pay for other than the cost of the logs.
