Ok Im gonna throw this out there for friendly discussion cuz I feel this has come up enough in games that it needs to be thought about more. Everyone has their own ideas on what alignments mean, entail, etc. and what actions are acceptable for different alignments. What I propose is this (and I am giving credit to Bill Carswell and others who participated in our conversation last night for this): If a player does something that seems questionable, ask them to explain why that is a reasonable action for their character. The player then has a chance to explain why they think, based on their characters backstory, alignment, experiences, etc. that their character would do whatever it is they did. This I think will help players think before they just go off the rails, and give other players a chance to explain themselves before they are judged, possibly unfairly. Thoughts?
