Ok! Since My Former, Student called me out (and she knows Im all about the pony-up) to state what you will do to make people aware of the fact that Black people do not get a fair shake in this country. I was going to Pull my car across three two lanes of the Brent Spence Bridge during rushhour and stand on top of my truck waving signs saying you just got stopped #DWR driving while Racist for my #OneChangeOne Individual Activism Challenge... to become a #OneChangeOneChampion... but my lawyer said I would likely loose my retirement check for the felony charges that could occur from such an incident so I decided against that. Although, I still contend that until the lives of the average person, not of color, begin to be affected in some way then there will be no change! So whatever the protest it must make racist and non-racist that stand BY uncomfortable enough to affect them enough to make them stop and think why and hopefully change views. So instead I decided to go out shopping for my first ever foray into #blackfriday for the #BlackoutBlackFriday movement. ( I am 53) I wanted support only businesses of color or small businesses located in areas where people of color are dominant in population, as to, bring a boost to that sector of the economy. I had a difficult time locating any at first as they are not listed and the Black Chamber of Cincinnati sent me to locations that did not, completely, suit my goals. However, the pictured Loot represent my successes and will be a big part of the Christamahanukwanzeid celebration this year at the Blairs! My adventure began at the Bridal shop pictured where the pink bag pictured contains a tool like no other for plucking a budding brides eyebrows I am told by the proprietor who was not a black entrepreneur but was located in an area where many white business owners will not venture. I then went to the Shaw Market and met the Owner there. He was so busy I had to help his stock a case of Pepsi I found stuck in his, open , cooler door where he obviously got called away to run the register. (been there done that... so I hooked him up to throw in a little good Samaritan with my adventures) I them moved to another Black Chamber suggestion and that dude did not fit my bill so I continued on not feeling very successful as I had really only put a few pennies into the economy I wished to support. I had Called Ron (from the next picture) before I had left the house and although he had not even Opened his store C-Town Apparel yet and he had said he was working and I could come on down if I wanted cause he would to meet me.( since I had been so adamant about my pursuit of my stated goal I can only presume) I went to his new awesome location and he offered to sell me his first shirt ever! #HowCoolIsThat !! Still after a long discussion with Ron I went on about my adventure and noticed a barbershop across the street operated by a fellow that suited my goals finely, and although he did not like picture being taken of his person, we had a good Old School barbershop discussion of the times and sports, and friends who steal chips. While he cleaned up my Coif! He then got the ball rolling buy recommending a place he knew of a few blocks away that sold Ts. On the way there I was walking and ran into a Pop Up- Black Entrepreneur pictured next. She had started the Born and bread T shirt line! (pictured in red) and had just opened today and was in the middle of a radio broadcast. When I got to the barbers suggested location I found the OTR Shop which had some very Quirky wears that my nephews Ian and Mac would love including the , what now seems quite appropriate. Black and gold- KUF the KOPS shirt. He, then, sent me to a girl down the street (pictured next) at the classic couture shop and the bracelet I got there will be a great stuffer for my daughter. I next found a very neat place that offered some very stylish wear for men and women and ended up with a few great finds including the green and brightly colored shirts depicted in the picture first up. All and all I pumped about $250.00 into an economy that suffers greatly from #institutionalizedRacism and #whitepatternblindness! I had a wonderful day and met some wonderful and hard working people and even may have gotten some work out of the deal...Not a Demon did I see all day #whatwha #kpow No I take that back... That guy... how he got listed as a Black Chamber business I do not know, he even seemed to resent his location and did not even seem to have people of color , which he presumable located to serve, at his heart at all. #theyareoutthere
