Ok. Who ordered Winter to return?!? Take it back! We are dealing with two systems and they have been playing havoc with the computer models and our ability to figure out what is going to happen when. It looks like the northern system may be winning out... pushing the southern system farther away, which means the moisture wont be as abundant so snowfall totals will be lighter. However, the wind and cold will still head our way. We will have a light wintry mix today and mild temps in the 30s. Tonight will be the main show with 1-2 of snow and strong northwest winds gusting higher than 30 mph at times. The amount of snow is manageable... until you throw in the wind. This will create blowing snow and reduced visibilities. The Arctic air following the front will also contribute to dangerous wind chills. Because of the blowing snow and wind chill concerns there is a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for our western and northern counties this evening through early tomorrow morning. This includes Waterloo, Tama, Waverly, Oelwein and Decorah. I wouldnt be surprised to see it expanded to include all of us. Temperatures will start falling this evening and keep going through Monday morning. Wind chills will be -20 tonight through Sunday and maybe even colder Monday morning as air temperatures drop to around -10. We stay bitterly cold all week with highs in the single digits and low teens and lows dipping to negative double digits a few times. Another round of snow is expected to track through Monday night and winds will be strong again Tuesday and Wednesday, creating more dangerous chills midweek. #76daysuntilspringbutwhoscounting
