Ok...a few folks have stated that I hate facebook so I will set the record straight as to what my opinion is on this social media Leviathan .. Some may agree..others will choose to differ from my opinion .. Firstly I believe its an excellent tool to maintain contact with friends,family, distant acquaintances and maintaining and running busy active groups. It has done wonders for our own group and helped us get off the ground. Its great to pop into FB throughout the day to keep tabs on whats going on.. The banter can be funny and many people enjoy the chat and exchanging fun posts.. I use it primarily to keep track of our group and to rally people together for the events... I also enjoy having some fun banter with my close buddies on here who rarely if ever take my posts seriously as they know most of what I write is just tongue in cheek humour. .................. But like everything there is a dark side.. Believe me Facebook has its dark and ugly twin brother... Facebook can be a blessing and it can also be a curse and too many it is a real poisoned chalice. It is all too easy for posts to be taken out of context and before you know it you have a vicious and unpleasant argument taking place. This I have seen over and over again.... Friendships destroyed by a few simple misunderstood words.. Families torn apart by stupid comments made in the heat of the moment and posted publicly. Situations that can turn violent simply because of what is pasted and posted on this social media network. I see and read the most vicious and hurtful comments made by people often simply aimed at complete strangers because they happen to be a different colour gender or simply do not fit that criteria of what a human being should be. Facebook is an open window to the world and people should be very wary of what they post and what they want people to see hear and read.. That is why I believe people using Facebook should use it very cautiously stick to your own page if you wish to have an opinion as more often than not if you place a comment on another page it just brings you into pointless conflict. Like I said Facebook can be a real fun place to be misused it is dangerous and unpleasant .. I have made some extremely good mates over the years using this facility unfortunately I have also encountered hostility I guess its bound to happen but I have made more friends than enemies so to me that is a plus point.. Its a great shame that Facebook cannot be more regulated but its so huge that would be a sheer impossibility so it is up to ourselves to regulate and to make sure that we do not get sucked into pointless ridiculous arguments and lose friendships over such daft and meaningless things. Think before you post and when you read...read between the lines before judging somebody... Then perhaps maybe one day will not see so much unpleasantness and confrontation that we see now on Facebook..
