Ok an update: The herd headed out of Hondo the Monday before last after being interviewed by the paper in town and sharing a wonderful meal at the Mexican restaurant in town. Our journey took us down highway 90 as most of you know threw, Dhenis, Sabinal, Knippa, Uvalde, to Brackettville for a parade on Saturday. It was almost 90 miles to the town and water was hard to find but the grazing was surreal, green, lush, thick, mixed with cactus, sage and mesquite. Most nights we camped next to the highway except for the night outside of Uvalde where we camped out up stream from a branch of the Frio river. Saturday morning the herd was up early after making more then 24 miles the day before. The horses were tired exausted, and didnt care about no stinking parade only five more miles but as slow as Abbey was going that would be at least two more hours of riding when a truck and trailer driven by our good friend Bob, pulls up on the shoulder. Hey buddy need a lift Bob asked with a grin ear from ear knowing he had saved the day. Within a few minutes we were at his friend Rays house where all the mule people were meeting and introduced to new friends. My friend Paul who I met in Bandera was there saddling up his Big mule TJ as wagons were being hitched and packs slung. Abbey and Jack was sure I had lost my mind, we had just unpacked and UN saddled and now were getting packed again? Down the road we all headed with Abbey insisting on taking the lead finding a new energy I wish she had on most days but holds it back for parades. Threw the streets of Brackettville we proceeded waving to on onlookers, answering questions, and enjoying conversations with my friends. In all a grand day. The weekend was stayed over at Rays Ranch where he has many mules, and a new mule that was un broke broncci, head shy, and ready to a fight showed up to be trained by Bob. More on that storey an other time with video and pictures. The last two day have been spent making our way to Del Rio and tonight we have arrived. Monday evening Pepper encountered a huge western Diamondback Rattle snake in beautiful display coiled ready to strike, buzzing loudly but traffic made it hard to hear him. We all gave him a wide birth not wishing to upset him any more then we had, I wish the phone had been charged to take a picture. Little cell phone signal out here. It has been a great week and I look forward to resting on lake Amasted and waiting for a ride over the Two mile bridge on Friday. I can see Mexico tonight, its only a few miles south of us. Tomorrow the herd will water in the Rio Grande completing our first Transcontinental journey. Hope you are all well and doing good. I recently got a new phone but lost all my contacts. My number is 316-217-5848, if you send a txt wit your name that would be awesome thats the best way for now I think since a signal out here is still hit or miss. Love and miss yall. ....Bryan Bryan Brant Long Rider Riding on Faith
