Ok, folks, if anything bizarre is going to happen to any teacher during an observation- it is going to happen to me! Let me tell you my tale… I introduce my lesson with the student outcome stated in such a way that the kids can understand it. I use a visual, and share that we will add it to our collection of outcomes. I have a minute-by-minute detailed lesson prepared, and I am implementing it. My students are fully engaged, asking questions, and they are in three separate groups. I hear strange voices. I ask, Students, do any of you have any electronic devices in your school bags? Then my evaluator says, Mrs. Tallo, have you been watching TV? I look up from under a table, where I was helping a group of kids, and say, No, I dont even watch TV at home, why? She says, Look, a TV show is now being projected onto your Promethean board! I look up in horror! I dont even remember who shut it off. She or one of my students did, because I am too short, and I dont have batteries for the remote. I showed Mrs. Julie all the pages that I had up on the PC. It was just power-points from the Guaranteed Curriculum. She checked the VCR, and there was no tape in it. The actual TV, which has never worked, was on a different station. I had reported in the past that I thought that my computer had been hacked. Ive seen the cursor move all by itself before. However, of all days, it would have to happen today! I am glad that my evaluator has a sense of humor!
