Ok friends...a little update on me. Im finishing-up this run of chemo treatments in the next couple of weeks. Then, we go to Houston for scans, tests, and general check-ups. Those of you who follow our journey know they found a lesion growing in my pelvic region close to where the original tumor was. Hence, the chemo regimen Ive been on since January. As you might expect, as we grow close to the time for our check-up, anxiety levels tend to grow. But, we are reminded that The Lord did not give us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgement. (2 Tim 1:7). So, remarkably for me, I dont feel the anxiety like normal. The blood tests so far have shown remarkable improvement in my cancer marker (CEA) since January. For that, Im thankful. But, Im asking for you to pray for me in a very specific way. The Lord has on more than one occasion shown me how He wants me to pray. A close friend recently preached a series on prayer. One of the powerful messages (and there were many) was there needs to be an urgency in our prayers. One verse that speaks to this is, Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect. (James 5:16 HCSB) I am asking you to pray urgently for me. Secondly, I have been reminded that our God is a merciful God. He is full of mercy. I have been reading about Manasseh in the Bible. Manasseh was a son of Joseph. He became king at a very young age. He did many evil things in the sight of God during his reign. God tried talking to him, but, like me, Manasseh didnt listen. So, God brought the Assyrian military against them. Only then, when he was captured and in bondage, did Manasseh seek mercy from God. When he was in distress, he sought the favor of Yahweh his God and earnestly humbled himself before the God of his ancestors. He prayed to Him, so He heard his petition and granted his request, and brought him back to Jerusalem, to his kingdom. So Manasseh came to know that Yahweh is God. (2 Chronicles 33:12, 13 HCSB). God heard his request, showed mercy, and restored Manasseh. So, I am asking you to pray that our God show mercy on me and my family. Pray He hears our petition and heal me. I ask you pray for this urgently! My last point for today is one I hope we can all relate. Remember His glory and our good are linked together. If it is for His glory, it is for my good. If it is for my good, it is for His glory. I believe that God answers prayer so no other can get glory but Him. I believe He will heal me in such a manner there is no other explanation but Gods merciful hand. While I believe in medicine, doctors, and nutrition to treat, only God heals. I am praying expectantly and urgently that God show mercy on me and my family. I ask you please do the same. I cant wait to see how He works. I believe He can deliver me from this. But as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego told king Nebuchadnezzar, even if my God doesnt deliver me, I still believe! Remember, fear is faith in the enemy.
