Ok guys, Im weighing options... As you all know, my 51 shoebox flathead overheated... So badly that the one water pump discolored. I shut it down right away. Im just now starting to diagnose what happened and what repair needs to be made if possible. I really dont wanna throw good money after bad. I know that if the flathead isnt ruined Ill need to at least replace both water pumps and hoses... More than likely it will need a clutch also.. I need t know what tests to check this engine with... There is NO water left in the system. With the belts removed, the pumps spin freely but probably have impeller damage or something. On the other hand, I know that I can get engine and tranny mounts to put my 302 and c4 into the car that I have laying around... Apparently mustang headers will work well in the car... Id need a different radiator, driveshaft, re do all the wiring and a new rear... And probably a new steering column That being said Im kinda thinking that if I did this re-do of the car it would be a much more reliable and enjoyable drive... (I will put radials on it and rebuild or upgrade brakes and steering) As of right now I kinda hate to drive the car. It seems to break down just about every time I take it out and its nickle and dime-Ing me to the point that I really dont enjoy it. What do you guys think? I just want a safe enjoyable reliable car to take out. TJ
