Ok here is a map showing where has burnt and where hasnt. As everyone knows Thursdays killer was the wind, this map shows just how much got burnt since thursday and that wind at its worst punched to the due east and when the change came in to the north east. This is why the fire punched around Mt Wilson and Mt Irvine etc. This has meant that a massive chunk of Wollemi NP has burnt in remote area but its the right flank we need to watch. We know the wind will change and come from the North West any time tonight or tomorrow. This flank will become the front and it will be massive.......but how crazy is up to the wind. As you can see there is a vast area not burnt that sits on a NW line all the way along Bells Line of rd. Yes it has to go into the Grose Valley and come back up the ridges but this will only make the fire bigger. I saw at Bell and Dargan yesterday just how quick it can change and thats what makes this just so hard to predict or give advice. The advice I give is to be ready, the fire can be along way away but a spot fire can start any where and many kms a head of the main front. The Mt Vic fire with a NW wind could head very close to Blackheath and North Katoomba, the state mine fire or Wollemi fire can head and impact any where from Leura to Winmalee heights on the south side and Bowen Mountains and Kurrajong Heights on the North side of the Grose Valley. Bilpin and Mountain Lagoon will also have some tough times a head. The News just said the next 3 days are going to be hot and strong NW winds before the next front crosses the Blue Mountains.........Ive walked most ridges and creeks that havent been burnt yet, its a very hard area to get into and most ridges are on the perfect direction for the fire to gain speed and size. This fire is massive and will show its true face when the wind changes so i cant tell you all enough be ready, I hope im wrong and there is no wind before the change. The team who are protecting the Greater Blue Mountains are the best in the world and have every thing that can be used on hand to win this battle.......... and it is a battle, they wont win every battle, but they will have a cracking shot at it ;) Remember watch the wind as its the key in having any idea where the fire is going, BE READY BE SAFE. I hope ive helped and if there is any thought that it will be too much leave as soon as you can ;)
