Ok here is where my Facebook friends really SHINE... Ive told the kids they have to read a certain amount of books this summer. So of course now both need recommendations on what they want to read. Jack is 11, he has enjoyed all of Carl Hiaasens books. If that helps. He has ZERO interest in the Hunger Games series or Divergent- even though a few of his friends are reading them. He doesnt want to read Ender ... were not sure why. Hes above the Whimpy kid type stuff. and frankly Im stumped at what he would enjoy. He blew threw Scat and Flush and all those and DID like them. I just dont know where to go from here. I want to hand him Catcher in the Rye but I think hed be bored. Help. Hala is 9 and even harder. She did finally have that reading breaking through moment with Black Beauty this year. However NOTHING else seems to spark her interest and shes not sure shell even enjoy anything. She wont read anything that is your typical girl book- if its an American Girl thing...nope. She did all the horse books we could think of...Black Beauty was the only one that drew her in where she didnt want to put it down (and it was for her age group) .. she does still struggle a bit with reading but now has found is can make you lost in another world, both kids have, its just finding those books that are so damn hard. Any ideas here?
