Ok heres the scoop boys. Chunked the bay to no avail with some nice bunker from OTH. Tried 3 spots. Nada. Decided to make the flat calm run back home to Stone Harbor and fish outside Hereford as I use that inlet often. Saw a small fleet trolling. Ok, bag the bunker and get out the Stretchs. Snagged a live bunker amidst huge pods of bunker. Also saw a whale feeding on them. Decided to live line the bunker on a 9/0 Gami with a 6 oz drail. Bam...bunker gets hit. Buddy and fellow AM Bob Harp (aka Tight Drag) grabs the rod. Pushes up the drag to full strike and you guessed it. Snap...fish gone. :( Line snaps from being too tight. Ok, now Bob is ready to shed a tear. After busting his balls saying that was our dinner tonight, we decide to dead line another bought bunker from OTH. Same setup on a drail. Trolled our way back to Hereford. 4th. quarter late in day, 2 minute drill. Ready to call it quits. I slow my troll down and take motor out of gear to reel in a spreader bar. Dead lined bunker gets nailed. Bob says. You take it, I dont want to lose it!. Ha! I grab his rod and we eventually net my personal best 43.9 lbs. and 48 striper all about 3 miles from my dock. Yup, life was good today! :)
