Ok....it was NOT haying they were doing in the field between Whittle and Corona tonight. This is a barley field as it turns out. Barley is not mowed, it is harvested. It goes through a combine. That is not a real mower. The combine suffered a mechanical malfunction that started the fire. Harvesting is a far less risky process than mowing is. While harvesting with combines can start fires, it is a pretty rare event. I am going to delete my posts where I blasted the decision to mow / hay the field. Mowing / haying is tremendously risky to do right now. But, this is something far different.
