Ok...its been a while since Ive given an update on the restoration of the 1960 radio (model 04BT). I had a challenge in tracking down what I thought was a cold solder joint. I finally found the problem - a bad connection on an audio transformer wire to its mounting post. So now the radio plays, but the audio is not crisp. Sounds a little fuzzy. So I broke out the oscilloscope and took a look at the demodulated audio...yep, theres some sort of inductive ringing coming out of the IF transformer. Which is one of those no-longer-made parts I feared would be bad. The good news is Ive got a donor radio from a 59 that Has the same transformers. Transplant surgery is scheduled for tomorrow evening...stay tuned.
