Ok, just gotta throw this out there... and Ill start with this: we absolutely love our new home. We couldnt be more grateful for the opportunities it is going to give our family and our business to serve, love, & bless others. However, Comcast, DirecTV, and Home Depot are really trying to put a damper on things. Had Comcast residential internet & TV for 2 weeks. Hit their data cap that I didnt know existed... which happens quick when you upload hundreds of gigabytes of data to your photography business online backup. So, had to switch to Comcast Business internet (which I had previously at our former studio, just didnt think Id need it anymore). And because we had to cancel our Comcast residential internet, the price was going UP if we kept only their TV service (because, of course, we had a bundled package and without it the TV service alone was crazy expensive). So, we switched to DirecTV and when the DirecTV tech came to install service this week he accidentally cut the internet line. So, no internet for the last two days (kinda hard to deliver photos to clients when you have no internet to do so). Well hopefully be reconnected tomorrow (but of course Im highly anticipating a glitch of some sorts). All the while, Home Depot cant replace our brand new broken washing machine - the second machine broken upon delivery, mind you (which has this habit of leaving our laundry room floor wet after every use - so we just keep repeating this unique washing cycle: wash, mop, repeat) because the model we bought was discontinued the day after it was delivered to our house. Whats funny, is Maytag tells me there are hundreds available for my local Home Depot, but HD tells me they have a glitch in their system that keeps them from ordering these newer models. Were waiting for the repair man to get the part in that was ordered two weeks ago. Supposedly hell be back next week. Heres the bottom line: I really hate that Ive let circumstantial frustrations get me down like they have the last week. But, today, Im reminding myself of a few important things: 1. Things are things. They break. And the more highly you value things above people & relationships, the more likely you are to be disappointed in this life. 2. Customer-centric service is rare. Be outspoken about it when you encounter it - companies deserve the praise. I long to serve my clients in a way that leaves them feeling valued and appreciated. 3. I dont want to move again for at least 20 years. Can you guys all hold me accountable to that? ;)
