Ok, let me catch everyone up. Five months ago the Drs told my mom they were pretty confident she had multiple melanoma, after a few test that was ruled out and they moved on from that to figure out what was going on. She saw countless Drs, had countless tests and one says yes it is cancer another says no it isnt and on and on. Three weeks ago she is hospitalized for pain management and to tweak meds because she has a fracture in her neck. After some tests Fluid is drained from her lungs and this results in a compressed lower left lobe. She is dehydrated and her vitals are all over the place, and she starts to hallucinate. She is in ICU for 5 days sent to a regular floor and 24 hours later sent to rehab. From rehab she goes to MGH to see a specialist so we can try to figure out what is going on. After the appointment back to rehab, 5 days later after a call from her sister indicating mom is not acting right she is sent by ambulance to Lowell General. At this time she is unresponsive her blood pressure is all over the place, oxygen is in the 70s with 10 liters of air flow it is in the 90s. From Lowell General she is sent to MGH by ambulance where she spends 27 hours in the Er, more fluid is drained from her lungs. She is FINALLY sent to a room and settled but still not 100% with it. Today she has a biopsy so we can hopefully get some answers on the best treatment. Vitals are a lot better but still cant breathe on her own. Confusion has become part of her daily life, she hallucinates a lot because of the oxygen deprivation. SO FIVE MONTHS MANY, MANY DRS and TWO TRIPS IN THE HOSPITAL WHERE WE ARE TOLD TO PREPARE FOR THE WORSE AND STILL NO ANSWERS. Heres to hoping MGH can make it better or at least make it less painful.
