Ok, lets focus on the positive and get our head back in the game here. As much as we feel decimated over the broken bass, and especially the fact that Cassidys ultimate Christmas Surprise Ever shit the bed at the hands of FedEx, my surprise to her is still very much in play. Cade is also going to fall flat on his ass on Christmas morning and I know he reads my status, so Im shutting up now. This year was an enormous blessing in and of itself. This has been the most solid and productive year of my working life so far. Big statement to make at 49 years old. I have worked harder, and better than any previous year and not only did it bring the cold hard cash, but a huge satisfaction of doing the impossible. For a guy with a deteriorating back and no sleep, I can still load excavator rollers like a boss. Oh sure, I hurt like hell after, but I can still do it... I got myself back in a big band this year. As a bass player....my favourite seat in the house! Were back on track and swinging like a monkey. But the super big things are that my son graduated this spring. Hes got his head on right, hes working and he has his eye on the college prize. The big dufus turns 19 this winter and I couldnt think of a better guy to hang out with than him. Whether its buying groceries or picking each other off with Nerf guns I am truly thankful for every moment. He will go off and do his thing next year, but I will cherish this last year of him at home for the rest of my life. Then theres my wife. My world. Nuff said because there arent words to describe it. Its hard to write a blues tune when you dont have em...😊 So, time to buck up, Bobby. The tonkas of Central Alberta depend on me....and so do my people. Back to work....
