Ok, lets get real about history.. Here is little tidbit that has been misrepresented and lacks discussion. globalresearch.ca/the-irish-slave-trade-the-forgotten-white-slaves/31076 The Irish, the Jewish, the Italians, the Chinese, the Saxons were all discriminated against in history. They were attacked. They were beaten. They were forbidden from businesses. They were forbidden from restaurants and even from parts of the towns they lived in. But, apparently, because they were Caucasian or appeared such, they eventually overcame the discrimination and integrated seamlessly into society. They overcame their fear of discrimination and struggled to become valued members of the communities in which they lived. I am white and because of that I do not know the unique struggles that befall black society. I know that I have had to work hard since I was just a child. When I found myself out of a job few years ago, I was hired by a company who had never seen a picture of me nor talked to me on the phone. My resume was sparse and said nothing of my race. I have moved between several companies in the same industry over these last few years and none of them saw any images of me nor spoke with me on the phone other than to tell me when and where to go. Race was obviously never an issue. I had absolutely no experience in the oil and gas industry and was extremely uncomfortable pursuing such a career. I have read biographies of numerous successful, wealthy, and/or powerful men and none of those biographies discussed race. They did mention confidence, hard work, perseverance, struggle, goals, strategy, planning, and delegation. So, to overcome racism, dont ignore it but recognize it for what it is. View it as a part of oneself just as a paraplegic views his legs yet chooses to run a marathon. There is no remedy nor will there ever be a remedy for hatred or a belief in superiority upon this earth. People are free to believe as they will no matter what we feel, say or legislate. We are each unique. To succeed, It would appear that one must develop for himself and then teach his children confidence and embrace it fully, face the struggle head on, recognize the past as part of the struggle to succeed, set goals, plan a strategy, work hard to achieve those goals, then delegate responsibilities as the struggle converts to success. Some may interpret this solution as naive. But, it has worked time and time again for individuals as well as communities. Find role models who inspire not destroy and follow their lead.
