Ok nerds, I need PC help. My computer has been growing - TopicsExpress

Ok nerds, I need PC help. My computer has been growing increasingly unstable over the past 2-3 months. I have done the usual stuff like defragging and running all the diagnostic programs but it seems like it may be a hardware problem. There was a point at which I thought it might be a problem with the video card because it seem to happen during periods of high load on the video. In the last couple of days the computer has actually crashed while I was trying to perform maintenance on it yesterday defragging and today going to a program called rkill. I dont know if thats the problem since rkill deals with malware and such. I use a program called System Mechanic for the past 3 years and have been pretty satisfied with it. It is a program that monitors just about every aspect of the PC and keeps it lean and mean and running green. One of the functions is to have little indicator telling you what kind of shape your computer is in and often times it was telling me that I had alot of misaligned files and I had to defrag. Now with previous computers defragging was something maybe I would do every 3 months or so. But it was getting to the point where I would run system mechanics defrag routine and then within 3 days it would say that I need to defrag yet again. The last time I tried it a couple days ago literally 45 minutes after I get done it it was telling me I needed to defrag again. This certainly seems to be an indicator of something bad. So today we have a brilliant new wrinkle. After it crashed I restarted it. It seems to be going fine to the boot routine and all of a sudden I got a big blank red screen. That sure seems ominous. Anyone who has ever had this or knows about it please inform me does this mean my computer has just gone for the long dirt nap?
