Ok, now Im going to vent. Im not that mom that panics about germs... Im not going to welcome obviously sick kids into my home to play but Im not afraid of sending my kids to school or other public places...And if a sick kid needs some surrogate loving, I wont turn them away, either! But... If either of my kids is showing signs of something contagious - abnormal pooping, puking, fever, etc... I am going to keep the sicko home. No friends or family in or out without full disclosure...not because Im crazy, overprotective mom but because I dont want to be responsible for exposing other peoples kids to whatever mine have gotten and no, Im not going to wait for an official diagnosis before quarantine, either! I see no point in putting my child and myself with my already lowered immune system in a room full of sick people just to confirm something is Type A or Type B for the sake of public health statistics when the symptoms drive the treatment and our family doc can just call in the Tamiflu if need be. So I really resent LPSs attendance policy & the threat of my going to jail (no, neither of my kids are at that point but Im playing devils advocate here) for absences. Im going to do what is best for my kids but a lot of parents take those rules way too far & for the sake of not missing work or not getting in trouble with the school, dump their obviously sick kiddos off, waiting for a call from the nurse as permission to keep their kids home... And the cycle never ends... Grrrrrrrrrr
