Ok patriots/football fans.. Its playoff time and I see no reason why there shouldnt be insightful, in depth, and informed opinions on outcomes of each game from this point forward.. I feel as tho we should start our debate/discussion on the NFC wild card matchup between the lions at cowboys.. There are so many variables and unforeseen things and plays that could be the difference in winning or losing this game. First, Ill remind you that the cowboys are playing at home which means that they do have home field advantage.. While the cowboys are. 8-0 on the road this year, they are a measly 4-4 at home. While the cowboys boast the 2nd best offensive triplets with tony romo (having an MVP level season), demarco murry ( rushing king of 2014 with over 1800 rush yards), and dez Bryant ( probably the best hands in the NFL and 1 of the top 5 greatest active receivers. You could even say hes second best behind megatron and have substantial evidence, proof, and valid points to back it up).. The only triplets whove performed better this year are the stealers Big Ben, yards from scrimmage leader leveon bell, and most catches and yards this season Antonio brown. But back to the cowboys. Beside the BIG THREE, they also have 3 pro owl offensive lineman who completely dominate day in and day out, creating gaps and holes that even the likes of mr. Bust Trent Richardson could exploit en route to a 1200 rushing yard season. (Which is, in fact, my main reason for thinkin leveon bell is the best rb in the 2014 league year). so with MVP play from romo, an on point dez Bryant who could catch a comet dashing towards earth from outer space and make it look easy, and offensive line that could creat a gap in the Great Wall of china , plus a seemingly ageless and romo-proclaimed best cowboy In franchise history who goes by the name Jason whitten, add reliable slot reciever like beasly and a number 2 receiver in Terrance Williams along with a stable of tightends that have proven that they can block well and catch passes VERY WELL. Add all that up and you have a Super Bowl type of offense . A team that won the NFC EAST that seemed to be a shoo in for the eagles (props to skip bayless, he was the only sports analyst that I hear/read, probably on the face of the earth that predicted the cowboys would win the NFC east even though he knew he would, and indeed did, take a ton of heat for that proclamation)...But flip to the other side of the ball . While the cowboys defense hasnt been bad, they havent been great either. they rank middle of the pack in most defensive categories (which is by farrrrrr better then the outcome most analysts predicted before the season. The vast majority thought that this defense would be one of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL). But all things considered, is a middle of the pack defense strong and versatile enough to contain the likes of Calvin Johnson, golden Tate, joique bell, and the somewhat enigmatic Matthew stafford? The only concerns (now that Calvin Johnson is seemingly 100% healthy) is a beatable offensive line and a sometimes erratic and bad decision prone Matthew stafford. Stafford tends to turn the ball over early in the game as opposed to late in the game. Which, still not good, is better than the latter. Romo on the other hand, has played from behind in the waning minutes of the 4th quarter lots of times in his career.. Romo is a great QB and is definitely in the discussion as one of the elites after a remarkable season this year.. He has a surprising good late 4th quarter drive success rate, but always seems to get the most publicity when he screws up during that time. Fact is, he is still prone to screw up and turn the ball over Im those waning minutes of the game. And against a stout, strong and masterfully coordinated defense like the lions , it will be extremely tough for romo not to make a mistake late in the game with the game on the line. This lions team almost reminds me of the cardinals team that beat falls earlier in the season (with dre Stanton at the helm). The cardinals held the demarco murry and the cowboys to under 100 yards rushing for the first time this season. The lines have the best run defense in the league and arguably the best defensive line in the league. On the other side of the ball, again, the cowboys have undoubtedly the best offensive line in the NFL.. If the lions defensive line can win some battles and hold demarco murry to under 80 yards like the cardinals did, then look for romo to air that ball into that underrated, yet dangerous secondary of the lions. Sure, Tom Brady picked apart that lions secondary with genuine ease and efficiency, but romo is NOT Brady (Brady IMO is the BEST QB in the game, while Aaron Rodgers is by far the most talented).. But if memory serves me correct , the lions were still able to intercept a Brady pass on a throw to none other than the best TE in football (gronkowski). Bottom line, is that this Detroit defense is dangerous and underrated. And that is a winning formula. Mix that in with a cowboy 4-4 home record and a cowboy defense than CAN be exploited If Matthew stafford plays AT LEAST decent . And I feel that you have a pretty close game but ultimately, the lions move on to the next round.. Romo will throw for roughly 300 yards with 2 Tds and a costly LATE interception, demarco murry will Net 65 rushing yards .. Dez Bryant gets 85 yards and a TD. Bialy hits 3 field goals.. Stafford throws for 250 yards with 3 Tds and 2 early interceptions, Calvin Johnson nets 105 receiving yards with 2 Tds.. Golden Tate nets 75 yards with 1 TD.. Joique bell goes rushes for 80 yards with a TD Final score 28-23 Thanks for reading comment below for input or to tell/explain to me how Im a fool for coming to my conclusions
