Ok, sit back because I have a neat little story to tell. It all started back when I was 16 years old and the Preachers daughter and I skipped church youth group (she had a car!) to go a club where a band we knew was playing. My friend Phil Hazard was doing the light show with the amazing psychedelic colored dye and water between glass plates on an overhead projector technique. He asked me to take over doing the plates for a while and I was instantly transformed into the cool kid. Man, I was really into it, moving the blobs of color to swirl with the music like a true professional. All of a sudden theres a strong grip on my upper arm and its my MOM. I was so busted. She pulled me away from my new found talent and marched me right out of the club. Mortification is not a strong enough word. Fast forward 42 years and Phil is doing a retro oil/water light show at WoodsStock as Wet Sun, this time with the addition of computer graphics. The visual effects are amazing, actually outstanding! Last night I finally was able to have another go at it when I was invited by Phil and his lovely Tricia Swemba to come up and play with the plates again! Just look at those beautiful colors! Look at my crazy happy face! It was magical! So it took awhile but all and all, a happy ending.
