Ok, so Boyds One Stops own, Josh, wanted to go fishing this morning. Thats all I needed to hear. Ive been wanting to take a Daiwa 2-piece surf rod and reel combo that we just started stocking at the store for a spin. We hit the boat dock on the Dike about 8:30am. Cut fresh mullet was the bait of choice. It didnt take long for Josh to reel in a very nice 28 red with the new combo. I was pleased with its action and Josh was pleased with the big slot red. I sat my pole down to take the picture, and in a instant it went flying off the dock. A little while later I saw the handle floating about 30 yards away. After a thirty minutes of fishing for it, I was able to snag it with the new Daiwa combo and reeled it and a 24 red with it. So technically, the Daiwa combo caught two fish this morning. Good luck, bad luck, some kinda Karma...whatever. This rod/reel combo sells at the store for $62.99. I looked a good while for a sturdy combo that will catch bull reds and black drum and not break the bank. Weve got about a half dozen left, but Denise made another order today.
