Ok, so I am awake now. I have to say that even with a couple of setbacks, and driving rain and cold, the parade last night was a blast! We had the smallest and least decorated float, but everybody cheered and laughed. First, right off the bat, the cord on the generator broke before the parade even got started. The guys got it fixed, and we got into line. Then, the sparkplug wire vibrated off. Figured that problem out, but it put us in the last position. Duane Waller came by and said we had missed our slot, but that made us the Grand finale We figured the crowd would be gone by the time we reached the end, but that was not the case! All of our friends were there to cheer us on to the end! If they gave a prize for determination and spirit, we would have won hands down! I want to thank everyone who showed up, and stayed to the finish! We had good participation from the Sutherlin Eagles. Thanks to Karl Mckensie, Joann Kirby, and, Danny Renfrow for being a part of the float entourage. Also Bill Gill for loaning us his generator, and Jim Potter for his advice and help in building the float. Way to go Eagles! There were lots of other Eagles that helped, but because of my lapses in memory, I cant think of them right now. Just know that I am grateful! Also I want to thank the ladies from Douglas County Low-cost Veterinary Services for coming out, and dragging their men, kids and dogs for the float! Dawn Stayberg and her significant other Rudy for helping with the float. Rudy and his boyswere one of the highlights of our evening. Rudy provided the music, and the boys even sang a little. I also made a new friend. Rudys son Owen was very sweet, and kept giving me hugs and sat on my lap for part of the parade. We had a good showing from DCLVS. Even our Director Julia Russill was there with her beautiful red Doberman Remy. Our Practice Manager Amber Ewing brought her dogs Hunter and (OOPS I cant remember the little ones name!) and her guy Derek. Dawn Stayberg, our Office Manager brought her dogs Booger and Sabrina too! Next, I want to thank Everyone who helped us behind the scenes. Gene King let us use his trailer, and his boys Harley and Cody helped with some of the grunt work. Jerry from Papa Murphys Pizza gave us our Grinch. My sister Gale Buckbee provided our tree, and worked like a dog to help get things done. She was there every step, and even though we argued a bit, she never failed to keep going, even though she had to work too. Jeremy White from The Smoke Shoppe let us pirate his store for some of the lights etc. Josh Brock loaned us his Tailgater for our music. Ralph and Linda Clark opened their tool shed to us, and let us build our float on their property. I also want to thank Duane Waller for coming to our rescue a couple of times during the parade. If there is anyone out there I forgot to thank, know that your contribution was greatly appreciated! Now, you are probably wondering if I am crazy enough to want to do it again?!? Youre darn tootin!
