Ok so I am going to put this out there and hopefully have a good discussion about this....I have Lnu people, Native Council people and the people that classify themselves as Metis people on my facebook...so I had to ask a question one day so I could understand what the difference was between these 3 groups that all self identify as Aboriginal...so this is what I got...Lnu = Registered Status Indian, Native Council = descendants of Lnu but the blood line has gone down to far and can not be registered =non-status, and then the group that classify themselves as Metis = a group that you have to pay a membership fee to become a member. A mixture of Acadian and somewhere in history a family member that was Mikmaq however not recognized as Metis by the federal government because the original Metis is from out West and have no affiliation with the Mikmaq therefore not Mikmaq.
