Ok so I need to preface this post by saying that, 1) Im obviously not a football fan so dont judge my take too harshly and, 2) most of my friends are Cowboys fans and I really like seeing my friends happy so trust me when I say I was GENUINELY wanting them to win yesterday so youd all be happy people cause you certainly put up gamely with me being ecstatic when Newcastle United manages to not pee themselves publicly. So now that thats out of the way I HAVE to address something thats bothering me from a logic standpoint. When the Cowboys defeated the Lions with the genuine aid of what was apparently a shady (yet accurate) call, and Lions fans got all angry about it, Cowboys fans responded with the ENTIRELY ACCURATE response of your offense was shit in the second half, that one call did NOT cost you the game, your offensive ineptitude did. THATS A GREAT POINT! Its absolutely right! If theyd managed to not suck on offense in the second half that ONE play wouldnt have made a damn bit of difference. HOWEVER..... and heres where I open the can of worms...... seeing Cowboys fans getting pissed about the Packers defeating them with the genuine aid of a shady but (by the literal actual written rules) accurate call makes me cringe. Cause couldnt Packers fans accurately point out that allowing 3 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, 300+ yards passing, and a 124 passer rating from a VERY CLEARLY INJURED quarterback be mayyyyyybe a bigger reason the Cowboys lost? Also that getting smoked by a rookie Wide Reciever business? IM JUST SAYING!!! I wanted the Cowboys to win for the sake of my friends happiness, but the argument seems illogical and hypocritical. Id like to see the stats on the win percentage of that sort of QB/WR performance in the playoffs. I bet its real damn high. Seems to me that if you argue that offensive ineptitude is what cost your opponent one week, not a shady call, then you cant blame a shady call the next week for your loss when you clearly didnt stop the other offense from putting up clearly world-class numbers against you.
