Ok so I was given a 30 something year old Arabian gelding. My dear aunt passed away and left him to me. He was on the thin side last spring when I got him but he has declined and is Now severely under weight.( you can count his vertebrae and see all of his ribs).I have had the vet out twice. He has been cleared of funguses, bacterial infections etc. his teeth are good and he previously had a throat tumor removed ( a few times) but it hasnt popped back up. He eats 2 leaves of hay( Timothy) and an entire 5 gallon bucket of brome pellets, purina senior feed, and rice pellets. He has vitamin supplements, salt licks, and plenty of clean water. He also get isolated to eat so no other animals get his feed. I have been trying for over 3 months. Is there anything else I can do to put weight on him before I give up? He looks like a severely abused and neglected animal :(
