Ok so a few of the bands and people that I really enjoyed making music with this past year is Barbwire Bluegrass, It has been really great reconnecting with my long time friend Ricky Ponder and his son Ben Ponder who Ive known since he was a tiny kid back when me and ricky had Misery River going. I enjoyed getting to know Jimmy Ross a lot too, a wonderful person and very talented Dobro player. Brett Cantrell was also a blast to be around and a fine picker and person. I also had a blast playing with my friends up in Gatlinburg TN Matt Flake, Jerry Cole and all the Firewater Junction boys. Matthew Munsey, Matthew Fox, Andrew Ruff, McCoy Borg and all the wonderful folks and talented friends in Monroeville. Bo Isaac and Darrell Webb thank you guys for so many good times and amazing jams, both of you guys are world class musicians and singers. I also got to play shows with 3 of my musical heros and 3 of my all time favorites Matthew Mundy who is my favorite all time mandolin player and the greatest innovator in the history of that instrument. I have had the pleasure of calling Matt my dear friend for well over 20 years and its an honor to be on stage with such a force! Thank u Matt.. Elmer Burchett is also a musician that I respect and admire a great deal, I dont think mountain bluegrass banjo can be played any better than what Elmo does. He is also a force as a vocalist, he has the perfect bluegrass voice the old time way. Thank u Elmo for being such an inspiration and one of my best friends every. Joe Craven is a musician I have looked up to for over 20 years, from the first time I saw him play with The David Grisman Quintet to getting his Camptown recording which knocked my socks off and still does, to hanging backstage together when we were on the circuit and at a lot of the same venues. I really had a ball being on stage not long ago with Joe who is hands down one of the most musical minds on this planet.I also want to thank Steve at Steves Live Music for doing so much for bluegrass in the Atlanta area, I have enjoyed so many wonderful jams there. A big thanks to all my students both private and in Ga Pick and Bow for all the wonderful times we have had sharing music together. I also want to thank my dear friend Bob Bakert, we have shared some good times playing and going to guitar stores my friend and I thank you for all the help brother. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of my musical life, I am so grateful for the gift of music.
