Ok so after i get in my room i go down to get a soda and in front if me is a native guy with a pony tail down to his behind. Those of u that know me well know that i am totally drooling by this time. :) me being me i ask are u Lakota and he says yes. I ask where he is from and he is from the standing rock reservation in north corner of South Dakota and lower North Dakota. But he now lives in rapid city but their power had been off for 3 days so he brought his family here for the night. So me being me i introduced myself and my third degree questioning begins. He was raised by his grandparents until they passed when he was in fifth grade. I told him what all i had seen and how sad it had made me. He told me life was all about choices. He had taken the wrong path in the beginning and it landed him in jail. While he was in the hole he had a lot of time to think. He made his mind up that he would make something of himself and now he has his own roofing company and is a very hard worker. He said i do not feed into the BS of the people that dont make things of themselves. We all have the same opportunity in life it is up to us what we do with it. He is 42 years of age. I shook his hand and told him i was proud of the person he has become. The reservation life if they choose to stay is not the answer work wise. U can keep ur roots but u must get out and make ur own way. I thought that was very well put. But the plight on some of the reservations can be vicious and brutal as it can in any place. But i have a very sympathetic heart for the native american because after all they were the first true americans. If u disagree that is fine. This is not a debate post so please do not bash me for my opinion on this or u will promptly be deleted and BLOCKED from my page no matter who u are. My heart belongs with them
