Ok, so, full disclosure: Im not against a proper living wage (my issue is less about what people are paid, and more about the ridiculous pricing methods and how prices rarely reflect actual cost). But its really difficult to get behind it when an empty fast food place takes at least 10 minutes to get the order of the person in front of me, then tells me one second when I get there, and then takes another 10-15 minutes. And then, when I pay, they inform me it will be just a minute on part of my order (when in actuality they hadnt even started making it yet), and ask me to pull forward and they will bring it out to me. THEN, the person on drive through decides to take a smoke break after Ive been sitting for 5 minutes. And after about 10 minutes, I go back to ask how long on my order and they had no idea I was waiting on something (the only reason they realized it was because they saw the order, sitting in the frier, on a 10 minute deep fry). And then drop a new order. All in all, it took upwards of 35 minutes to get my food, at a fast food place. I mean, Im all for a proper living wage. But shouldnt we have some standard of quality? Otherwise we are just giving the people who forget sauces after asking if I need any sauces, a 200% raise. And the service will stay horrible, prices will go up, and people will lose jobs because they arent worth the new rate. Im all for a proper wage, but shouldnt we have some expectation of return on investment?
