Ok....so here is my RANT for the day....or month....or year? We recently listed a horse for sale,.We had 2 people come look at him today.The first gal came and went and the second gal came,with no trailer.Very nice person.First question was if we would lower the price beings the ad stated 1500.00 or b.o.Nope...we already knew after the ride I had on him on Friday getting $1500.00 for this horse would not be a problem.He was WELL worth it and from day one that we took this guy in his progress had been plastered all over facebook.Next question was... had he been in with mares which our answer was no...not here but yes he was at the previous owners place.We told this lady everything from top to bottom about this horse.Next she asked about doing a week long trial period for she was worried about him and her 2 mares getting along.I asked if the horse was going to be turned out with her mares and she said yes after a few days.First question out of my mouth was what if the horse got kicked by one of her mares and her reply was that we could deduct the vet fees from the purchase price.I made it clear that if the horse got hurt she bought him...period and the hubby then told her that because the interest was high on this horse he would not agree to a week and that she could have until Wednesday.Her reply then was how soon could she pick him up and he said tonight if you want and she elected to pick the horse up tomarrow morning at 7 a.m.There was NO deposit.There was NO hand shake.There was NO contract.A half a hour later we get a call from the first girl that looked at the horse today saying that she has the money and wants the horse.Well ok...the horse is still here so....therefore...the horse is still available so...thinking that we had to be fair we let the first girl have the horse.She,as well,would provide the horse with a great home.I did notify the 2nd girl asap to let her know what had happened and that we did sell the horse.Bottom line is....if you go horse shopping...take a trailer...pay for the horse and take the horse home.I have never once ever gone and looked at a horse for myself and asked for a trial.When I go to look at a horse I take a trailer so that if I want that horse it comes home with no stipulations.I see that there are people saying that a persons handshake or word is not good anymore.Well number one there was NO handshake and number two we told this lady that this horse did ok previously with mares and I guess our word was not good enough.Please dont make us out to be bad people or money hungry people just because we felt that we were only being fair.You had no contract with us and at that point we had not commitment with you.Not until sunday morning at 7:00 did our commitment with you begin.There was enough people standing in the barn that heard the whole conversation and actually we do know a few good Delaware lawyers.I did apologize to you several times even though I was basically just the messenger.But if you are going to announce it all over face book at least tell the whole story and not just the half that you want everybody to hear.Have a great night all!!!
