Ok so theres been a huge fuss about this Death Row Dinners pop-up restaurant. deathrowdinners.club/ Especially the pictures they used of inmates with menus round their necks. My opinion is divided, but both the Undercaker and I agree wed rather eat there than in those eat in the dark restaurants. That really is my idea of a nightmare. But seriously, whos to say they are even real inmates? I havent seen proof. Could they not just be friends and family of the organisers? Its a publicity stunt after all. I highly doubt they are real prisoners, but thats just what I think. Theres likely to be legal issues if they were real prisoners and its obvious these folks have Photoshop skills. So what makes this so much worse than some of the cakes and chocolates Ive made? And other people I have worked with. Severed limbs, testicles, baby heads, all that stuff? Some consider that in bad taste, have called me all sorts of things, yet there are 14k of you lovely people here. I know its not real, its food, its art, I am merely expressing myself or doing the work a client has requested (and I accepted!). I am not going to start killing people and dipping them in sugar. I know thats its not aimed at everyone, Im ok with that, and if someone doesnt like it all they have to do is not look and not buy. Does the same not apply to this restaurant? Why is OK for Henry Hargreaves to photograph and list what death row inmates requested for their last meal? upworthy/see-the-photos-of-what-death-row-inmates-requested-as-their-last-meals He states names, not faces. Is that not worse? Some are celebrity monsters, like Bundy, Gacy and McVeigh. Does that make it OK? Is it because there is no death penalty in the UK? Like I said, my opinion is divided. Theres not a lot of info on the page and the price is fairly steep for an experiment. I dont know what Ill be served. For all I know they could serve me tuna and thats just rank. But most importantly, the whole concept of a last meal is choice, isnt it? Not a mystery dish. So now you know what I think, Id love to hear your honest opinion.
