Ok, so this outpouring about Robin Williams is all well and good. He was funny and a good actor, but he suffered from a debilitating mental illness and its important to highlight that more than anything else. Depression killed Robin Williams, and understanding that the times when the black dog is to the fore are the times when reason and consistencies in personality and demeanour go out the window is vital. He needed support, but somehow it didnae come or it wasnt enough. In recent times Ive been diagnosed with acute depression, and Im still here because of the support of my wife and kids. There are treatments that work wonders in addition to whichever happy tabs youve been prescribed, and they are love, friendship, honesty and support. I cant help but wonder which were missing from Robin Williams life, and which of them could have saved him yesterday.
