Ok so we have some more great news for dad and for mom. The VA came out and inspected the ramps and driveway for safety and accessibility a few weeks ago. They felt all did a great job but feel that the driveway would not be ideal for dad or mom in the winter( because of bad weather and its a hill and you need quite a bit of muscle power to push him up and prevent him from rolling away going down) so due to safety concerns they felt he needed another way to get to his van at their lower driveway. They decided that the best option would be to install a wheelchair lift from the porch to the driveway. Essentially its like an open elevator that will carry him down 8ft from the porch to driveway. We are so grateful for this also because it makes things even easier for mom when shes alone with dad to get him away from house in an emergency. It took awhile for VA to pitch in and we are so thankful they finally are. Im so happy that they see how hard my mom works to care for dad and that these things will make their lives so much better. They will be 75 and 70 yrs old this November and have had to struggle through the biggest fight of their lives at those ages. They totally deserve this new driveway and lift and any other great things that come their way. One way or another with help we can give them some golden in these golden years. :)
