Ok, so why does insurance have to be so difficult on the change - TopicsExpress

Ok, so why does insurance have to be so difficult on the change over when you turn 65? Crap, why did I know this was going to happen. So, I go from United Health Care to United Health Care Medicare Advantage Plan. You would think, same company, this should be nooooo problem. NOT!!!! So, they wont let me keep my doctor because he doesnt take that plan. Ok. They assigned me some doctor somewhere I know nothing about. I would rather see someone in the same office as the doctor they wont let me have who will accept the insurance, So, set it all up over a month ago so it would be ready to go into effect and make an appointment for the 17th so I can get prescriptions filled. The new doctor calls the insurance co. and gets it all set up and everything is good to go. So when I call UHC to make sure all is okay. They say oh no, you have to wait 30 days. Then they they check and say oh no, you can set it up for Oct 1 which is in about two weeks. Ok, thats fine but what about the prescriptions I need to fill on the 17th. Is the insurance going to pay for new refills under the old doctor or the new doctor or am I going to have to suck it up and do without meds for two weeks?? No one seems to be able to answer the questions. The gal has me on hold for quite awhile and working hard trying to get answers to this. Then he computer does stupid stuff. So, anyway, I am waiting for a call back. Wonder how long Ill be waiting on that?? Gotta love it because not a damn thing you can do about it!!! Fun times!!
