Ok the unthinkable has happened....we have kept fish from guppies all the way to oscars&RTC for 10 years and never had ICK!! We were at petco (normally never buy fish from the chain stores) but we were there for some dog supplies and saw their neons and mickey mouse platys were on sale 5/$5 and our 75 community tank is still a bit bare so we decided what they heck and bought 5 of each. Needless to say from the picture you can see we have blue water due to Ick treatments. Those $10 fish killed over $100 worth of barbs, eel, a colony of bumble bee cats, lizard loach as well as about 2 dozen guppies....all that is left standing is one albino barb. I cranked the heater to 86 for 4 days and then slowly brought it back down....he looked to be ick free so I added two of my feeder gold fish. (They had been in my 45 which has no issues we simply use it to house feeders for our RTC) Two days later all three have ick and it killed one of the gold fish. I removed him and gave up on the natural treatments and broke down and bought Ick Fizzy Tabs and just added them. Is there anything else I should be doing?? All carbon and filter pads have been removed. How do I tell when the treatment is done? How do I tell if they are Ick free? (If they make it) I am so beyond pissed off....PETCO will NEVER get a penny of my money ever again rather it be fish or any other pet supplies!!!! This was an established tank (over a year) and hadnt had any other fish added in more than 4 months!! Grrrrr....HELP!!!
