Ok, this is debatable, but some people say that legally, under the provisions of the annexation of Texas to the US, Texas can split into five states. IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN. It is the only way to undermine all this gerrymandering that has been ongoing since Delay. Imagine a SE TX substate dominated by Houston, and a NE substate dominated by Dallas, a central/Valley substate dominated by SA and Austin, a western substate dominated by El Paso, and a Pandhandle substate dominated by....well, to hell with them. Such a plan would result in at least five more D senators, a bunch more D representation in the House, radically different results in the new state legislatures, and a general neutering of the redneck vote.
