Ok, this is going to be unpopular with some people, but it must be said. Pearl Harbor was NOT an unprovoked attack. Within your pledge to never forget you must never forget that in 1941 Hawaii was not a State. They did not become a State until 1959. In 1941, our Navy was simply using Pearl Harbor as a staging area to impose an oil embargo onto Japan. It was another example of how our Governments interventionism produced horrible results. It was blowback. Yes, the loss of life was tragic. But we must learn from our mistakes, lest we repeat them. I know that by posting this, many people will hate me. But it is important to remember these things, and if our 4th grade History teachers are not going to teach it,....then someone must.
