Ok, this is my last plug for Willy Wonka. In this show, Ive seen magic happen - both on and off stage. Lillian Strang is absolutely fabulous as Willy Wonka. Her Candy Man counterpart is joyful and warm. All of my spoiled kids and their families are brilliantly hilarious, from their first interview with our spirited and vibrant Phineous Trout until they meet their demise in the factory. And every member of my Bucket family is unique while sharing a tenderness and genuine affection for one another. (Charlie is guaranteed to warm your heart!) My Oompa Loompas are adorable, and all of Charlies friends are as sweet as can be. The challenges of our performance space have been admirably met by using the casts original artwork to set the tone for many of the scenes. The casts creativity is showcased beautifully with two original videos (featuring members of our cast) in the creepy boat scene and the flying scene. We used the work of 7-year-olds as well as our teens, and the variety and unique flavor of each imagined room in the factory is a perfect reflection of who we are as a cast - ranging from those just beginning as actors/artists to the more polished and experienced. What Im most proud of is how collaborative this process has been. This show reflects the extraordinary efforts of every participant, and it has been a pleasure to see it all come together. I am honored to have worked with such a dynamic and caring group of people. Last (but certainly not least), Im so grateful to work with Carla Sinclair. Her expertise, diligence and commitment are appreciated and valued more than she will ever know. We could not have done this without her. So if you would like to share our magic, today is the only chance. We are sold out for Sunday. Come by and support youth theatre. Its a beautiful cause. And you will certainly be entertained.
