Ok, two of Mississippi Division 1 colleges are in the top 3. It really doesnt matter which is #1 and which is #3. For all intents and purposes, the two teams are practically equal. I truly am happy for what positive national spotlight it gives both schools and the entire state. But I want us to put aside our biases and Esprit de Corps for a moment and think of how we can best take advantage of this rare opportunity. First, we must understand we are the beneficiaries of the perfect storm. Both State and Ole Miss peaked in a perfect year when the two historical powerhouses in the SEC West are trying to recover from a year when the NFL drained those two teams (Bama and LSU) of so many of their starters and quality players. We can expect the NFL take our biggest stars this next draft. I dont blame a kid taking advantage of their talent and cashing in while they are hot commodities. That includes the different coaches as well. So, we need to be careful in thinking were creating some long term dynasty. Possible, but unlikely. So, lets focus on promoting both teams until the Egg Bowl. Lets hope the Egg Bowl this year will be between AP #1 and #2. Thats when the fangs come out again. And who knows, maybe our two teams may be included in the 4 team play-off. So, Congratulations Ole Miss. I hope you enter the Egg Bowl undefeated. And, of course, my MS State Dawgs, congratulations for a great season so far. Keep it up. Lets give both teams our support. Every win by both teams benefits us both.
